President Asif Ali Zardari has urged all associated with tourism industry to undertake every effort for the promotion and transforming this area into one of the most vibrant sector of the economy.
“Fortunately, Pakistan is bestowed with enormously rich natural as well as man-made cultural treasures. From the relics of Indus Civilization to the traces of famed Gandhara Civilization, our rich cultural heritage, enchanting landscape spreading over the warm beaches to deserts and fertile plains to the awesome mountain peaks, we offer the tourist across the world a unique and diversified destination to visualize journey of mankind through ages and the splendid beauties of nature,” the president said in his message on the occasion of ‘World Tourism Day’.
The President said that unfortunately the country had not been able to exploit full potential of this magnificent treasure due to variety of reasons.
In present day context, he said when there was greater realization for the need to integrate promotion of tourism with energy-efficient practices and to reduce carbon foot-prints for a healthier environment and sustainable development, the need for promoting tourism on modern lines was even greater for countries like Pakistan, which were far behind the developed nations in fully developing tourism into a robust industry and to ensure that the growth of industry was accompanied by adoption of energy efficient practices.
The President said that World Tourism Day each year was a reminder of the important role played by the tourism industry in the socio-economic development of the country and its contribution in bringing the people of different parts of the world closer to each other by fostering a better understanding for the foreign cultures and way of life.
Is this guy for real??? Come to Pakistan and tour what? Madrassas? terror training camps? OBL's house? run down ancient, unattended monuments? What??? And once you do get there, who is going to provide you security from the kidnappers? Musa gillani must have sold him some drugs too because he sure does not have a clue about what Pakistan is like. You only want to visit Pakistan if you want to see what hell would look like after you die. As for me I'm going to heaven 🙂 Not visiting the hell hole (Pakistan) anytime soon.
I agree with you! Pakistan Pornistan
Tour What?
Is there any established tourism department as we find here in the west.
Karachi had a great potential to be a city with its pristine beaches thronged by tourists but who would visit Karachi when thugs of an ethnic party are engaged in target killing and extortion of money, I do not think any one in his sane state of mind would even imagine to visit Karachi.
There are only a few hotels while in Dubai there hundreds of luxury hotels, Karachi has only a few hotels of international repute.
Mr. President if you are really interested to lure tourists to Pakistan to boost the failing economy then you must have to ensure that the Law and Order situation improves. Just in the last two days nearly thirty people have been target killed in Karachi. As president you must know who is doing it. Simply laying the blame on political parties does not justify killings on such a large scale. Put a leash to those elements who are luring and supporting terrorists in Pakistan instead of the TOURISTS.
This guy is too clever,he knows what to say and when to say it,but its all talk, all 4 and a half years, all talk and no action. At the end of the day,he has not done one good thing to improve the condition of the country, its people and the list goes on.People are right,he won't do anything about Karachi and the killings,he has'nt done squat for Baluchistan,he has'nt done one thing to help with the energy crisis. But hey,he wants tourists to come and visit Pakistan so he can put more money into his corrupt pocket.
I completely agree he is a very clever person. Politics are only interested in filling there pockets and they have no interest with the betterment of this country. True, these are just talks. Nothing serious is being done for the promotion tourism in Pakistan by our governments.
