2 killed in violence

At least two persons were killed and several others were injured in fresh spate of target killing in different localities of the city on Wednesday.
According to details, unknown armed men shot a man dead identified as Zaheer Abbas while he was returning after leaving his children at school in Gulberg area of the city.
The body was shifted to Imam Bargah located in Ancholi Society.
In Faqeer Colony near Shahjehan Chowk area of Orangi Town, Naeem, 27, was killed in firing of unknown miscreants. The body was shifted to hospital for postmortem. Police said that both incidents seem to be result of target killing. Firing incidents were also reported in different areas of the city during which eight persons were injured. The injured were shifted to different hospitals of concerned areas.
It should be mentioned that at least 27 people have been killed and scores others were injured in incidents of violence across the city. The citizens have expressed grave concern over the surge in target killing and they demanded the city administration, provincial and federal governments for taking solid steps to bring the violence under control. They also criticized the role of law enforcement agencies to bring a halt in target killings and said that LEAs were themselves worried about their lives and property.
Meanwhile, the police arrested at least six suspects during a search operation against extortionists in Dalmia area of Karachi and recovered arms and hand grenades from their possession. An abducted girl was also rescued. A police cop also received injuries in an exchange of fire and later he was shifted to hospital for treatment.
