Well, that’s not in real life, but in her upcoming film English Vinglish. The film is about a middle-class housewife from small-town India, who struggles with English, which is her biggest insecurity and how she learns the language and conquers her fear. We have learnt that Sridevi, who plays the housewife, shares a special relationship with three men in the film, who influence her in their own way in achieving her goal. The first is Adil Hussain, a theatre actor, who plays her husband in the film. Adil was a teacher at NSD, a job he recently quit for a full-time career in films. Adil, apart from this film, is also featuring in Life Of Pi. The second man is Sridevi’s co-actor in Khuda Gawahand R Balki’s favourite actor, Amitabh Bachchan, who shares a flight journey with her on her way to the US. The third man is an Arabic French actor Mehdi Nebbou, whom Sridevi manages to resist in the movie, but the audience may find it difficult to. The three men will help her overcome the insecurities in her life, which, in reality, each individual has. While in this case, director Gauri Shinde has chosen language to communicate this insecurity, the larger message is that we are all just a step away in our lives from overcoming any fear or insecurity.
