The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday boycotted the meeting of federal cabinet convened by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
The MQM has given a three-day ultimatum to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government to meet its legitimate demands or it would part its ways within three days.
The MQM did not formally announce a boycott of the meeting but the absence of its ministers was a clear indication that the Karachi-based party was still sticking to its demands with regard to Sindh People’s Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO).
The special cabinet meeting was convened to discuss energy crisis gripping the country.
A special committee was to brief the cabinet meeting regarding the measures to get rid of the energy crisis.
