44 teams from all over Pakistan participated in the Raziuddin Sheikh All Pakistan Debating Championship held at Lahore Learning Alliance, DHA Phase VIII on Sept 22 to 24.
The tournament included 8 rounds and the semi-finalists for this year tournament were LGS Johar Town, LGS Paragon, Aitchison College and LGS Defence. LGS Defence lifted the trophy after a 5-4 decision against Aichison College.
The topic of the final debate was “ Te Arab spring has led to instability in the Middle east”. Zainab Shahid of LGS 1-A/1 was declared the best speaker of the tournament.
Zainab has represented Pakistan for the past two years at the Worlds School debating Championship in South Africa and Scotland.
The outstation teams in this year’s tournament were Bacha Khan Institute from Khyber Pakhtunkhwah, Beaconhouse Gujranwala, Angels International Faisalabad, Headstart Islamabad, Karachi Grammar School, St. Patricks Karachi and Karachi Lyceum.
The chief adjudicators for this year Nationals were Ms. Rida Qadri and Mr. Ahmed Ali Agha.
The President of the Debating Society of India, Mr. Deepak Verma, was kind enough to be the chief guest at the final.
