The third edition of Amar cables veteran cricket championship will be played here from October 14 at Shah Faisal and Model Town Greens cricket grounds. “Top local clubs of the city will feature in the event which is a regular annual feature focusing on the development of veteran club cricket “,said Chairman Organising committee of the tournament, Amar Ilyas Butt here on Tuesday. He said in all fourteen teams will be taking part in the competition which offers attractive Cash prizes. The winning team will receive Rs 50000 while the runners up will be getting Rs 25000 and there will be other prizes for notable performers. He said Pakistan Cricket Board has also granted the permission for the conduct of the event. The participating teams have been drawn in two groups and following is the formation of groups, (Group A) Amar cables, SPM Stags, Textile Tigers, Lahore Tigers, Hajvairy Sports, Siddique Motors, and Khayaban-e-Amin. (Group B) SPM Bucks, Golden Eagles, Gulberg Gymkhana, Chaudhary Sports, Lahore Muhammadans, DHL Seniors and Lahore Shaheen. He said that Amar Cables has won this tournament 2 times besides being the winner of National Veteran Championship, 3rd SPM League and Lahore Veteran Cricket Tournament. He said the man of the match of every match will receive a Cash prize of Rs one thousand and man of the match of the final will get Rs five thousand with best fielder, batsman, bowler and the wicket keeper will also be receiving cash prizes. He said a penal of qualified umpires will soon be announced for the supervision of the matches.
