Police sources have revealed that the Auditor General of Pakistan has received life threats from one of his subordinates over promotion issues. Buland Akhtar Rana lodged an application with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad contending that he has received life threats from a subordinate officer, Controller General of Accounts, Muhammad Junaid. Buland asserted that should any harm come to him, Junaid is to be blamed. Sources claim that Buland and Junaid had had an issue as Buland has been using his influence to keep hold of his lucrative post as Auditor General. The IGP assigned the task of investigation to SSP Islamabad.
