Security tightened in face of threat

The Islamabad Police have tightened the security in the federal capital and extra deployment of police personnel has been ordered at worship places and important buildings, an official source said on Monday. The source said that the Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bin Yamin had directed the officials concerned to beef up security in the federal capital, especially in mosques, worship places and other important locations as well as public places. Police presence had been enhanced at all the places of worship and markets while extra contingents of police had also been deployed in other sensitive areas.
Furthermore, parking of vehicles close to worship places would be banned during prayer time. Police personnel in plain clothes were assigned the task to keep an eye on suspicious elements. Police commandoes deputed outside sensitive locations had been alerted to the existing threats and special police teams had been constituted by each police station for effective patrolling in its respective jurisdiction.
Area (beat) offices were also directed to remain on high alert, while the “Falcon” and “Eagle” Squads were also assigned the task for effective policing and patrolling in the city. Complete coordination among all wings of the Islamabad Police, including the traffic police, Special Branch, City Police, Security Police, Crime Investigating Department (CID) and Headquarters of Police had been also been ordered to remain active during duty hours. Officials of the security apparatus had been ordered to start checking hotels and guest houses in the federal capital in order to ensure the protection of lives and properties of the citizens.
Checking at exit and entry points of the city had been further strengthened and police patrolling had been enhanced in order to avert any untoward situation, the sources maintained.
