Sarabjit’s lawyer barred from meeting him

Pakistan has refused to allow Sarabjit Singh any audience with his legal team in Lahore jail, News reported.
Awais Sheikh; Sarabjit’s lawyer was barred from meeting his client after he returned from India. Awais had letters and personal items which Sarabjit;s family had sent for him.
He wrote an email to Singh’s daughter, Swapandeep, telling her that the Pakistani authorities had refused to grant him access to Singh. Swapandeep told ZEE News that “Sheikh was surprised when permission to meet father was refused on the grounds that no judicial proceedings were pending before court.” Sheikh had been assigned the case of Sarabjit in 2009 by the court. Sheikh said that he would file a writ petition against the home department for not allowing him to meet his client. Sarabjit was convicted and sentenced to death for his alleged involvement in a string of bombings in Punjab in 1990. However he has been languishing in Pakistani jails for two decades.
