PPP, MQM first meeting after ultimatum

The Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement met first time after MQM gave three-day ultimatum to its PPP on Monday.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah called on Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan at Goernor House on Tuesday in which MQM’s reservations were discussed.
Sources said that MQM expressed its reservations over reconstruction of new local body institutions even after approval of new local body ordinance, and delay in calling Sindh Assembly session to present the new ordinance.
MQM has strong reservations with Sindh government over using delaying tactics over the issue.
CM Sindh assured Governor Sindh that he would soon issue notification of the reconstruciton of new local body institutions.
Meanwhile, PPP sources said that its backdoor talks with Muslim League Functional were underway. PPP was trying to remove Functional League’s reservations.
Qaim Ali Shah and Ishratul Ebad also agreed to call a joint meeting of PPP and MQM.
