Police is incorporating technology in its everyday activities: CCPO

Lahore CCPO Aslam Tareen has said that 11 modern check posts have been setup on entry and exit points of the city. Tareen said that all check posts were being equipped with latest digital surveillance systems. He said that state of the art CCTV cameras had been installed at all check posts and they could be monitored by CCPO and other police officers through their laptops for effective monitoring of ground situation.
He said that all police stations would be provided with at least one laptop with an internet connection. He said that motorcycles were also being procured by the department. He said that SIM locators had also been provided to police officials.
The CCPO on the occasion of inaugurating the surveillance system at Sherakot Check Posts thanked Medicam Group of Companies and Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industries for their assistance in provision of facilities at the check posts and their representatives were awarded with commemorative shields as a token of gratitude.

Govt spending Rs 62b for effective policing

The Punjab government has budgeted Rs 62 billion for the Police Department in Fiscal Year (FY) 2012-2013 to improve law and order situation in the province. The government had sanctioned to establish a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and is hiring retired army personnel to work as policemen. The government is also purchasing new vehicles and state of the art weapon systems for CTD. In FY 2011-2012 the province spent Rs 52.20 billion on the Police Department. Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan said that the government was spending a huge amount on the police as demanded by police chiefs and now it was their duty to improve the law and order situation in the province.
