Joint efforts by SAARC countries to eliminate terrorism: Malik

Interior Minister A Rehman Malik has stressed the need for joint efforts of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries to eliminate terrorism.
Talking to media soon after his arrival at Maldives, he said SAARC interior ministers’ conference can play vital role to bring durable peace, stability and progress in the region.
The minister, according to a message received here said that Pakistan, Afghanistan and other countries are facing terrorism and there is a dire need of cooperation among the SAARC countries to defeat it from the region as well from the world.
He said he would hold a meeting with Indian interior minister to discuss issues of terrorism and security. He said Pakistan and India would have to play an active role in SAARC.
He said moderate visa policy between India and Pakistan would be beneficial for both the countries.
Meanwhile Rehman Malik during a meeting with the Maldives’ Interior Minister Dr Jameel discussed issues of mutual interest.
He said Pakistan would extend training to Maldives police and law enforcement force.
Jameel said Maldives attached values to its relations with Pakistan.
