IRSA rejects Balochistan plea for extra water

IRSA Advisory Committee has rejected Balochistan’s request of provision of extra water.
Meeting of Advisory Committee of IRSA headed by its Chairman Mazhar Ali held in Islamabad on Monday in which irrigation assessments and availability of water for Rabi crop were finalized.
The committee rejected a request by Balochistan province for provision of extra water.
According to IRSA spokesperson, Punjab and Sindh would be facing 15% water shortage during Rabi season.
Sindh would get 12 million hectare feet water and Punjab would receive 16 million hectare feet water share, the spokesman informed. He said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa and Balochistan have been exempted from water shortfall.
The IRSA spokesman further told that reservoirs will get 20 million hectare feet of water during the season and dams will receive 11.4 million hectares feet of water while 10 million hectare feet of water wastage has also been assessed during the season.
