After the selection of Maulana Sherani of the Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) as the Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is now flexing his muscles to appoint a person of his choice as the vice Rector of the Islamic International University Islamabad (IIUI).
Well placed sources told agencies here Sunday that the JUI-F chief had sent three names to President Asif Ali Zardari, who is chancellor of the IIUI, before his visit to the United States (U.S).
Former Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retd) Shakirullah Jan and Justice Raza were among the three nominees proposed by the JUI-F chief to be appointed as the vice Rector of the IIUI. The sources said that President Zardari would take a decision in this regard after his return from the U.S.
The sources further said that Fazl had insisted that a person from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) should be appointed as the Rector of IIUI.
