Make or break medical, dental entry test for many to be held today

Medical entrance tests are being conducted by University of Health Sciences (UHS) for all public and private medical and dental colleges in 12 cities of Punjab at 9 am sharp today. . Administration of UHS has directed the candidates to reach their respective examination centers at 8am as the doors would be closed at 8:15am. A spokesman of UHS said that approximately 36,000 candidates were likely to participate in the entry test for public and private sectors medical and dental colleges of the Punjab for which all the arrangements have been finalized. He explained that in Lahore there were 3 examination centers, one at Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Center, Lawrence Road, the second at Punjab University Examination Hall, Wahdat Road and the third at Govt Comprehensive Girls High School Wahdat Road. Whereas, Islamia University (Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus) Bahawalpur, Govt Post-Graduate College, Sahiwal, Shaikh Zayed Public School, Rahim Yar Khan had also been declared as examination centers. Similarly, examination centers are also established at Agriculture University and Govt College for Women, Madina Town Faisalabad, University of Gujrat, Siddique Public School, Govt Degree College for Boys Satellite Town, (6th Road), Ideal Cambridge School, Govt Post Graduate College for Women, (6th Road) Rawalpindi. Due to the flood, the examination centers of Dera Ghazi Khan had been shifted to Govt Degree College for Boys Muzaffagarh and the candidates of DG Khan Division were directed to appear in the said center. Moreover, one examination center each had been established at University of Sargodha, Govt College for Women Hassan Abdal, Bahauddin Zakriya University Multan and Govt Higher Secondary School, Govt Comprehensive School, and Govt Boys College Satellite Town Gujranwala. The spokesman further informed that the duration of the entry test shall be two and a half hours. He said that parents and attendants of the candidates would be provided with comfortable waiting areas with drinking water and adequate toilet facilities near every center. oreover, traffic police has been directed to make special traffic and parking arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic near examination centers. The candidates have been directed to wear identify cards while coming to the examination centers so that in case of traffic jam, traffic police/ wardens could help them for reaching their destiny. These candidates shall compete for 3,305 MBBS seats in 16 public sector medical colleges and 216 BDS seats in three public dental colleges of the Punjab. Besides, there are 3050 MBBS available in 28 private medical colleges and 715 BDS seats in 12 private dental colleges of the province.
