Film festival concludes after enthralling over 8,000 children

The Fourth Lahore International Children Films Festival concluded after six days on Saturday Three morning shows and two evenings’ shows were orgainsed for the participants daily and more than 8,000 attended the Festival this year The Festival screened 86 films from 32 countries.
Students from Lahore Grammar School (LGS) Beacon House, Learning Alliance, Allied School, Bloomfield Hall School and students enrolled in public sector schools attended the festival. An NGO named “The Little Art” ensured free entry for street children, special children and children hailing from the marginalized strata of the society. Organization such as The Rising Sun, SOS Village, Pakistan Education Foundation, Door of Awareness, Lahore Language and Speech Centre, Peechan, Sanjan Nagar, Al-Mashal Foundation, Fountain House Lahore, Hamza Foundation, Child Care Foundation and Special Education and Training Center also participated with their students in the Festival.
Office bearers of “The Little Art” talking to the newsmen said that “arts education” and “media literacy” has a lot of potential in Pakistan. Parents of the children who participated in the event said that such platforms become a medium for children to think out of the box and its time that visual based education should be preferred over text based education.
This year’s Festival was sponsored by Embassy of the Netherlands, German Embassy, Idab Taleem-o-Agahi (ITA), Teacher’s Resource Center (Karachi), Agriculture University (Peshawar), Sir Syed Memorial Society (Islamabad) and Annemarie Schimmel Haus (Goethe Institute).
