Raging fire guts oil mills causing billions of rupee losses in Karachi

Fierce fire in a cooking oil mill gutted raw material and processed oil, ghee and machinery worth billion of rupees here late Friday night. Several rescuers were injured or affected of smoke in attempt to extinguish the fire.
According to details, fire caused due to unknown reasons engulfed the cooking oil mill located in Shershah industrial cluster in SITE area of Karachi.
Fire fighters reached the scene and started operation to putout the fire but despite drastic efforts it continued to rage due to inflammable raw material and worsened into a third degree blaze.
Meanwhile, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat ul Ibad taking notice of fire directed for immediate action after which Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed reached the scene and monitored the rescue efforts.
More fire tenders across the city were called in to help extinguish the wild fire and it was brought under control after 10 hours of hectic efforts.
Meantime, hundreds of tonnes of raw and processed cooking oil stored in the mill worth billions of rupee was gutted.
However, no casualties were reported except for firemen, who kept on swooning after they tried to enter the suffocating smoke-filled building. The rescuers, who sustained injuries or affected of smoke were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Earlier it was stated that short circuit was cause of the fire but some sources claimed that it was not accidental but someone intentionally initiated the fire.
