An engineer from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) committed suicide after he was not given his salary for three consecutive months. As per details, Abdul Hameed, a WASA engineer, who was living in a rented house, was upset as he had not received his salary for the last three months. He could not arrange for admission fees and uniforms for his children, who were chucked out of their school, so he took his own life. His body has been sent to a hospital for post mortem.
The District Coordination Officer (DCO) said that the causes involved in his death are being looked into, as a note retrieved from his pocket clearly indicated that he was depressed for want of money. Abdul Hameed received his salary for one-month, after three months, but the amount was not enough to cover his expenses and that ultimately led to his suicide.
