A Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) employee died of electrocution at GOR on Wednesday. Tahir, a 30-year-old gardener of PHA was trimming branches of trees at GOR-I when he accidentally touched a live power transmission line and died on the spot. His electrocuted body remained hanging on a branch of a tree until it was lowered by a crane an hour later to prepare it for its final rituals. Relatives of the deceased and his associates staged an angry protest demonstration against the PHA for assigning life-threatening tasks to its employees. They chanted slogans against the PHA authorities and demanded of the Punjab government and Wapda authorities not to delegate PHA employees with life-threatening tasks of trimming tree branches close to the power transmission lines.
