Massive protests continue against anti-Islam movie

The activists of various organizations continued their protest on Wednesday against the anti-Islam film in Hyderabad. Pakistan Muslim league member of Sindh council Badar Soomro and other member strongly condemned the anti-Islam film and said that the desecrating content has hurt feelings of people of all faiths. According to the press release issued here on Wednesday Badar Soomro appealed to the US government to hold the individual behind the ill-conceived film accountable. He said the message of the Prophet of Islam Muhammad (PBUH) stresses “peace, hope and good life”.
“Therefore, we condemn the content in the film in the strongest terms and will lobby with US Congress to stop such actions which hurt feelings of people of faith and give rise to discord and violence,” Soomro said in a statement.
Varsity introduces distance learning healthcare programme: Vice Chancellor Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro Prof Dr Mashoor Alam Shah has said that distance learning family healthcare programme will provide opportunities to young MBBS doctors to learn advanced method of treatment with latest innovation in the field of medicine.
He said while presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday regarding introduction of Distance Learning Family Healthcare in the province. The meeting which also attended by Civil surgeons, Medica Superintendents of the Government Hospitals and District Health Officers of Badin and Tando Allahyar districts discussed at length the introduction of the programme in their respective districts. The Vice Chancellor said that telemedicine has become an essential part in the field of medicine and the young MBBS doctors are getting maximum opportunities to provide medical treatment to their patients with the support of Distance Learning Family Healthcare Programme.
He hoped that with introduction of the said programme in Badin and Tando Allahyar districts, the young MBBS doctors will enhance their knowledge through telemedicine. Registrar Muhammad Saleh Rajar and Director Information Technology Azar Akbar Memon also attended the meeting on behalf of the university management.
Minorities’ leader condemns
blasphemous movie: Minority Rights Commission of Pakistan Chairman M Parkash has condemned the anti-Islam movie and said that minorities of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Muslim brothers.
According to a statement issued here on Wednesday he said hate material against Islam and other religions should not be propagated and demanded International legislation to stop such acts. Hindu Panchiyet Union President, Hyderabad, Pawan Dhirani said all minorities of Hyderabad have expressed their deep sorrow and hate for the anti-Islam film made by an American.
All the minorities participated in the demonstrations against the movie that depicts that they are united as a nation, added.
Land Acquisition officer appointed: The Sindh Board of Revenue has appointed Badruddin Shaikh as Land Acquisition Officer, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited at Sukkur.
According to an official announcement here on Wednesday Nadaruddin Shaikh has been appointed with powers of Collector in respect of acquisition of land under the Land Acquisition Act 1894 within his jurisdiction for Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited.
Lecture on role of varsities: The management of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro will organize a lecture on “Role of universities in shaping the community” at Latif Hall Jamshoro on Thursday morning.
According to university spokesman, Prof Ali Muhammad Ansari, Member Syndicate LUMHS, who also served as Sindh Secretary Health, Director General Health Services Sindh, Principal Dow Medical College and Liaquat Medical College and people of different walks of life will be the guest speaker of the lecture programme.
