Guinness team due today to sign agreement on PYF

One member team of Guinness World Record is arriving here tomorrow, Thursday to sign a memorandum of understanding to be the official partner of Punjab Youth and Sports Festival. This was stated by Deputy Speaker, Punjab Assembly, Rana Mashood Ahmad who is also the chief organiser of the festival at a news conference on Wednesday. Also present was Director General, Sports Board Punjab, Usman Anwar.
“It is a historic moment in Pakistan’s sports as the Guinness World Record (GWP) team is arriving in Pakistan to be the official partner of the Punjab Youth Festival and to monitor the happening of the world records during the festival,” he said.
The ceremony will take place at the Punjab Stadium under floodlight and chief organiser of the festival Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan will sign the deal with GWR official in the presence of Secretary Sports Punjab, Haroon Ahmed Khan and Director General Sports Board and Youth Affairs Punjab Usman Anwar. GWR will be represented by Mr Raymond, regional head.
“Their full-fledged team along with international media will visit Lahore next month to watch the happening of world records in different interesting events,” he said adding: “The MOU signing ceremony is a step forward to introduce Pakistani sports at international event and we believe we will be able to create 12 to 15 new records as various individuals will be trying to break records in altogether 25 events.” He said the presence of GWR team will help in building a soft image of Pakistan and will bring good name for the country highlighting the achievements of its youth in various interesting events. “It is a heartening sign that people especially youth has taken keen interest in the ongoing Festival to create new world records for GWR,” he asserted.
He said the ongoing festival has set new standards in country’s sports besides becoming a world level event which is being participated by people from all walks of life and the youth. “The credit of this activity goes to the Punjab Chief Minister, Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif who has an unmatched vision and thought for engaging youth in healthy activities,” he asserted. “The PSB is providing an opportunity to the Pakistan nationals from the platform of the Punjab Youth Festival to glorify the country’s name in the world by creating records,” he added.
A number of sportsmen will be aiming to set new records in various fields to get their name listed in GWR. SBP has shortlisted fifteen (15) events, seven (7) groups and eight (8) individual events.
They will be attempting the following:
The most number of arm wrestling simultaneously
The most people in thumb wrestling chain
The longest time controlling a football with the soles
The fastest time to complete 50-football passes
Largest cricket ball
Maximum number of consecutive martial arts kicks
Maximum number of consecutive martial arts kicks in one hour
Maximum number of consecutive martial arts kicks in three minutes
Heaviest weight pulled by the moustache
Maximum number of push-ups in one hour
Maximum number of consecutive volleyball passes
Longest street art/ wall painting
Most number of candles lit simultaneously at a single venue
Largest parade of tuc-tuc auto rickshaws
Largest canvas painting
