Heavy rains with thunderstorm in the city, have adversely affected routine and life of citizens, along with inundating low lying residential houses and turning roads and streets into pools.
According to details, heavy rains with intervals lashed different areas of the provincial capital during last couple of days. Due to poor sanitary conditions, people residing in low lying areas had to face problems, as water entered their houses. Roads and streets looked like lakes due to the accumulation of water.
Traffic jams were seen on Canal Road, Mall Road, Ferozepur Road, Band Road, Multan Road, Railway Station and Lakshmi Chowk after the heavy downpour. Vehicle owners were also irritated by waterlogged underpasses in the city. Knee-deep water was seen in areas like Batapur, Mugalpura, Harbanspura, Duban Pura, Dharampura, Ichhara, Samanabad, Johar town and other areas. Citizens said that this was a very old problem in Lahore, but the provincial and city governments had failed to do something about it for a very long time.
More rains expected: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday forecast scattered rain/thundershower for Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours. While hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country during the next 24 hours.
According to the synoptic situation, seasonal low lies over Balochistan and adjoining areas with its trough extending southeastwards. A westerly wave is affecting Kashmir and adjoining areas.
