‘Pak Navy fully capable of meeting any emergency’

Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Operations Rear Admiral Hasham Bin Siddiq has said that the Pakistan Navy is capable and ready to discharge its professional responsibilities in case of any emergency.
He stated this while briefing media about the 2012 edition of the annual Pakistan Navy Maritime Exercise Seaspark-12 which has already been commenced on September 17, at PNS Haider here on Tuesday. Rear Admiral Hasham said the Seaspark-2012 is a biannual and permanent important feature of Pakistan Navy’s operational calendar.
He said enhancing combat readiness exercise maritime security operations and evaluation of planing to improve and consolidate the joint operations with Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Army among the principal objectives of the Seaspark-2012.
He informed to newsmen that Pakistan Navy, Army, PAF, Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim authority, Gwadar Port authority had participating in the Exercise. He said that all the operational ships of Pakistan Navy, submarines, aircraft, marine forces and establishments on shore would participate in Seaspark-2012. Speaking about the role of the Pakistan Navy in the nation building, Real Admiral Hasham has said that the Navy also worked to promote education in coastal area while thousands of students had also being imparted education through Baharia schools, colleges and universities which are self sustaining.
He said a mega project to establish a cadet college at Ormara at the cost of Rs 531.568 million has been approved.
Rear Admiral Hasham expressed that a questioner we have adopted a comprehensive strategy to deal with the problem of piracy. He also claimed that the Seaspark-2012 would conclude by the mid of October 2012.
