Over 60 artists to display works of contemporary art

Over 60 established artists will show their creativity in the medium of contemporary art through as many as 160 art pieces here on September 24 at the National Art Gallery. The event would be organized by the Rohtas Art Gallery as the biggest exhibition of Pakistani contemporary art to celebrate the gallery’s 30th anniversary. The participating artists had been recognized worldwide for their artistic creations, while the show would celebrate the contributions that the Rohtas Art Gallery had made over a time span of three decades for the development of contemporary art in Pakistan, said an official of the gallery. Quddus Mirza, an art critic and artist would be the curator of the show that would highlights the value of contemporary art in the art scenes of the country. The show would be an opportunity to show another side of Pakistan, a side that was about creativity, art and culture, the official said. The participants would include Humaira Abid, Salima Hashmi, Nahida Raza, Mehr Afroz, Naeem Pasha, Mussarat Mirza, Wahab Jaffar, Ali Bilgrami, Bani Abidi, David Alesworth, Jamil Baloch, Moeen Faruki, Elizabeth Dadi, Shireen Kamran, Ahsan Jamal, Rahat Saeed, Sumaira Tazeen and other artists. Brazilian Ambassador to Pakistan Alfredo Leoni would inaugurate the show.
