Nothing’s stopping the robbers!

There was no let up in robberies in the provincial capital on Tuesday as several citizens lost money and valuables worth millions of rupees to desperadoes roaming the city streets unchallenged.
A senior journalist, Asif Ali Pota, was waylaid by two robbers near the Muslim Town underpass when he was on his way to cover a function at Al-hamra. The robbers deprived him of Rs 10,000, a mobile phone and his credit cards.
Pota said that a Muhafiz Squad team reached the spot soon after the robbers left, but instead of chasing the criminals, the police personnel asked the journalist to accompany them to the Muslim Town Police Station. Upon reaching the police station, the police team persuaded Pota not to register a case, assuring him that they would compensate for his loss.
In another incident, robbers forced their way into Ilyas Amin’s house in Mughalpura and looted gold jewelry worth Rs 1 million and other valuables.
In Hanjerwal, desperate criminals looted gold jewelry and valuables worth Rs 0.7 million from the house of Naveed Bukhari.
In Millat Park, robbers fled after looting gold jewelry and valuables worth Rs 0.5 million from Zaman Khan’s house.
Unidentified men robbed valuables worth Rs 0.5 million from the house of Naeem Baloch in Kot Lakhpat. In nearby Model Town, robbers made away with valuables and cash worth Rs 0.4 million from Imran’s house while Obaidullah was deprived of valuables worth Rs 0.3 million in Nishtar Colony.
In Ghaziabad, robbers looted valuables worth Rs 0.3 million from Farooq’s house while Afzal and his family were robbed off valuables worth Rs 0.1 million in Allama Iqbal Town.
In Sattukatla, unidentified armed men robbed valuables worth Rs 0.1 million from Hamaad and his family while Rasheed and his family suffered a similar loss in the Lytton Road police precincts.
Robbers fled after looting valuables worth Rs 0.2 million from Adnan’s shop in Mangamandi while Imdad was deprived of calling cards worth Rs 0.2 million in a robbery at his shop in the Ichhra police precincts.
