A large Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant having a capacity of 6500 m3 per day has been inaugurated.
An announcement here on Tuesday said that Sharjeel Azhar, CEO of Al-Ittefaq Steel Products Company (ISPC), a group company of Al-Tuwairqi of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, performed the inauguration.
It said the inauguration of state-of-the-art Ultra Filt ration and Reverse Osmosis Plant marked a major milestone in the completion of the TSML DRI Plant- the first private sector integrated steel manufacturing complex in Karachi.
This Reverse Osmosis plant is a precondition for process water requirement of 1.28 million ton per annum capacity Tuwairqi Steel Mills DRI plant.
Zaigham Adil Rizvi said on the occasion that the successful commissioning of the Ultra Filtration and Reverse Osmosis Plant is the reward for the dedication and hard work shown by TSML family, and demonstrates that we can achieve great things if we set our minds to it. He said that we are committed to completing this project which will revitalize the steel industry and greatly benefit the prosperity of Pakistan.
I believe that reverse osmosis is by far the best option for purifying the water, however, with large plants like the one mentioned above, what is to happen with the discharge water? I have read many articles regarding large reverse osmosis plants that do not dispose of this properly, either dumping it into a local pond or lake, or back in the ground, which does not seem viable. Before these plants are to be put into production, a solution needs to be reached regarding the discharge water.
What is so "state of the art" about RO plants. They are found in abundance every where. mills and factories have been installing them for over 25 years now. Silly news ..!
