A man was killed and 57 others, including 47 cops, were injured when a massive protest in Karachi against the blasphemous anti-Islam movie turned violent on Sunday, as demonstrations raged across almost all major cities of the country against the film that has triggered a wave of angst across the Muslim world.
The Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), a Shia Muslim group, had organized the rally in Karachi, one of the largest protests in the country to date against the hate-mongering film produced in the US.
The Karachi demo turned violent when police deployed water cannons, fired tear gas shells and warning shots to disperse the angry crowd of protesters that hurled rocks at and tried to march on to the US consulate. All Americans who worked at the consulate were safe, said Rian Harris, a spokeswoman for the US embassy in Islamabad.
The protesters, chanting “Down with America!” demanded the expulsion of the US ambassador and boycott of all American goods, as they set fire to a nearby police station. Per details, the situation got out of hand when protesters broke through a security barricade placed to halt their march towards the consulate building, forcing police to fire tear gas shells and water from cannons at the crowd. Police and private security guards also fired shots in the air to disperse the crowd.
Police tried to stop the protesters, including women and children, at the bridge near the US consulate, but protesters offered a stiff resistance and managed to reach the boundary walls of the consulate.

  1. Down with America and destroy you country and kill fellow men on the name of protest. One should easily guess who are really terrorists who become active even sick minded persons living on mars for moon can say against their religion.

    • Please comment again with clarity, without grammatical mistakes, so that we can understand what you want to say.
      Regards.

    • Dear observerfromdistance, "distance lends enchantment to the view". Come close and observe for a better view.

  2. God must be quite angry at his job performance as a prophet, when he sees that Mumtaz Qadri murders the unarmed Taseer, the person that mumtaz was getting paid to protect, or when God sees the so called educated lawyers who praise this murderer, or when God listens to the arrogance of the pakistani main stream media anchors etc. or when he sees how his last Prophet's followers destroy property or kill innocent people under the cover of the blasphemy excuse. I am not sure if God's last prophet failed his Umat or the Umat failed him, but in any case it must be quite disappointing for God and totally humiliating for his last prophet

    • Of course, the ummat has failed – all prophets were successful. God is above disappointment, the creation is disappointed.

  3. I can see the enlightened moderate’s comments which may seem like a majority when accessing such comments largely because of their access to internet facility & command over english language, but in fact these dog loving remains of Musharaf era, the mummy dadies just represent a small minority. Off course one shouldn't destroy one's own property but should target American interest & their crony rulers all over the world. I really salute the courage of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen for their courage. I encourage people to come out & shed every drop of their blood for the respect of our dear Prophet (SAW).

    • This is no way to stand up for the respect of such a noble and peaceful man. If you understand how respectful he is you will never DARE to even MENTION his name in a riot or protest.

    • I totally agree with your viewpoint but please don't use foul language. A very strong message can be conveyed in very decent words. Allah has said "idfaa bil-latee hiya ahsan". Do away away with evil in a good manner. Even Moosa and Haroon (alaih-salaam), when sent to invite Firoun, were ordered to speak softly, incase Firoun may accept. As for Terry Jones, Sam Basil, Steve Klein foul language is acceptable because they are devils in human form. I wanted to comment, but i think you have done it fo me. Thanks. I repeat, i agree 100% with you.
      Regards.

  4. I do not condone violence, but comments here forgets what was the cause of this violence protests? People are quick to bash people who object to insult to their Prophet! They forget to speak against the shameful act of low life film maker!

  5. I have to call the fatwa on this moral malarchy. The Holy Prophet would not care about a Youtube video that nobody watched when 20,000 Syrians have been killed at the hands of Assad. Where is the moral outrage for the murdered Syrians created in the image of God?
These protesters project onto our US government that it is like any other Arab government in the Arab world where free speech is controlled by the government. This contradicts our founding principles of freedom of conscience and expression.
Why is Egypt behind China? When 50 years ago it was leaving China in the economic dust? The Arabs did it to themselves. They, for whatever psychological reasons, relied on Islam to solve their economic and societal problems. These protests are stoked up by religous zealots whom never studied or even read the Holy Qu’ran and have no idea on how to improve Arab society and economic wealth of the Arab peoples.

  6. I really wonder what these heroes were up to.? They were destroying the livlihood of their own countrymen. They were getting a kick out out of this. The americans must be laughing all the way to to the bank. Now a lot of people who would not have seen this insult to our prophet(B.P.H) will visit the cinemas to see what all this was about.I have nothing but disgust for those who heap insult on our pious religion but i intensely dislike people who are self proclaimed guardians of our faith. We must evolve and learn to respond in a rational way. Peaceful demonstration YES but destruction NO
