Sindh govt may sign accord with Army for inducting trained youths

With an aim to provide job opportunities to the jobless, the Sindh government is likely to enter into an agreement with the Pakistan Army and the Pakistan Navy so that the youth could get jobs after completing training under the Shaheed Banazir Bhutto Youth Development Program, it has been learnt.
The Sindh government had launched Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program to address the issues of poverty and un-employment through human resource development in the province.
The program aims to provide opportunities for skill development to approximately 100,000 semi-literate and educated unemployed youth in Sindh for a period varying between three months to one year.
The unemployed youth will be offered various skill development opportunities and job-oriented certificate courses to adapt to local and international job markets. This will help contain poverty and improve the socio-economic conditions of common citizens. In addition, the public and private sector business efficiency will increase through a well-placed, developed and skilled workforce. Sources told Pakistan Today that the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Stevta) had imparted training to at least 60,000 youths in authority’s 265 training institutions in year 2011-2012.
Recently, the Stevta has entered into an agreement with the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Hunarmand Foundation on public private partnership and the trained youths were being inducted in the air force, the sources said.
In a bid to further improve the quality of training and ensure induction of youth, the Sindh government would shortly sign an agreement with the Pakistan Army and the Pakistan Navy so that the jobless could get jobs in the forces under the Shaheed Benazir Youth Development Program. And, the coordination of Stevta has been started with the above-mentioned forces and a draft of Memorandum of Understanding is being worked out, the sources disclosed.
Moreover, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has also forwarded separate letters to the Pakistan Army and the Pakistan Navy for the agreement which was expected to get a positive response from the armed forces, the sources added.
The sources said Stevta Managing Director Hafeez-ur-Rehman Abbasi was engaging the companies like Engro Polymer Chemical, motors manufacturers, beverages, textile industries and others, so that the trained youth could get jobs in the national and multinational firms.
Moreover, the sources said 80,000 eunuchs would also be provided with the training of beautician course so that they could also live a healthy life.
