The Supreme Court has taken into consideration the non-implementation of its orders in rental power plant case and issued contempt of court notices to the concerned officers of National Accountability Bureau.
The apex court has also ordered NAB to submit the investigative report of the rental power case on a daily basis.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday conducted hearing in the rental power case.
NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Fauzi Kazmi requested the court for holding in-camera hearing of the case in order to disclose important details.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry rejected the demand, saying only cases related to national security were heard behind closed doors.
The chief justice also insisted on keeping the proceedings of the case transparent.
He said if any of the accused involved in the rental power case fled, the NAB chairman and all supervisors would be held responsible.
Afterwards, the SC ordered the issuance of show cause notices of contempt of court to all NAB officers who investigated the case from March 30 to date.
The notices have been issued to Col (r) Shahzad, Kamran Qaiser and Raza Khan besides all supervisors and investigation-officers.
The apex court has demanded a reply within seven days.
The hearing has been adjourned until September 25.
