Quetta goes on strike against laborers’ killing

A complete shutter down strike was observed in the provincial capital on Friday against the killing of ten laborers in Mastung. At least 10 construction workers were gunned down and four others were injured by two gunmen on Thursday in the Dasht area of Mastung district, some 30 kilometers south of Quetta. The strike’s call was given by the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. As a result, a complete strike was observed in Quetta and some other parts of the province.
The shutters of the main market on Prince Road, Liaqat Bazaar, Jinnah Road, Toghi Road, Mecongy Road, Masjid Road, Abdul Sattar and Meezan Chowk remained down for complete day. Traffic on the road was also thin. Heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies, including police and Frontier Corps, were deployed at sensitive areas of the city to avert any untoward incident. No incident of violence was reported from any part of the province.
