The police on Friday registered a case against 40 activists of the Islami Jamiat Tulaba for attacking the Muslim Town Police Station and setting a bus on fire during violent protests the other day. However, no arrests have been made so far. These students on Thursday held a protest demonstration against police authorities for not arresting the suspected murderers of an IJT leader and PU Law College student Owais Aqeel. The IJT members besieged the police station and attacked a senior police official. The police resorted to baton charge during which four people were injured. The enraged students later set a bus on fire on Wahdat Road. However, the police released some 30 students involved in the protests after negotiations with their senior leaders but later in the night registered a case against them on the complaint of a police officer Mehboob. The IJT on the other hand has denied involvement in the bus incident.
