President Asif Ali Zardari said on Friday that the present government would complete its tenure, adding that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would form the next government in Punjab and a Jiyala would be the province’s chief minister.
Zardari is on a two-day visit to Lahore and will hold meetings to plan strategy for the upcoming general polls.
While talking to reporters at Governor’s House, he said that he had made the country a “profitable place”.
Talking about democracy in Pakistan, he said that he had transferred his powers to the parliament with his own freewill.
Zardari said that the government “stands by the people in every time of test.” He said that they would not leave the flood affected people alone in the hour of need.
He said the fire incidents in factories were a major tragedy, and condoled with the bereaved families.
He also gave out “achievement awards” to 26 personalities and also conferred upon the award “Son of Lahore” to Mian Amir.
