Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Friday denounced the new local bodies system in Sindh, saying it meant division of the province. “It’s a discriminatory system enforced by the Pakistan People’s Party without any debate in the parliament and consultation with us. Two separate systems have been introduced in one province. What else one was to call it other than the division of Sindh?” Sharif said while talking to the media. He said that his party would not only oppose the new local government ordinance at every level but would fully back the forces that were agitating against it. Nawaz Sharif also said the Baldia factory accident was a national tragedy and every one responsible for it should be punished without any discrimination. “Whether it be the factory owners or government officers, action must be taken against all those responsible for the fire accident,” he said.
Talking to the media on his visit to Ali Enterprises, Baldia Town, he announced that PML-N would grant Rs 3 lakh to every family whose dear ones had lost their lives in the inferno. Sharif arrived at the scene with several other leaders of his party. He also met the family members of the injured and the deceased and sympathized with them. PML-N chief assured his full cooperation to minorities in Sindh, including Hindus, Sikhs and Christians, and pledged that their religious rights would be protected at every cost. He also urged the government to address minorities’ grievances.
