Ill-fated garments factory sealed, 82 bodies yet to be identified

Police on Friday sealed the ill-fated garments factory which took lives of nearly 260 persons in an inferno on Monday.
According to details, heavy contingents of law enforcement agency have been deployed around the factory site. The building might collapse any time because the fire had heavily damaged parts of its steel structure.
Sindh Health Department on Thursday put the death toll to 259, adding that 82 bodies were yet to be identified.
Officials said 236 men and 23 women lost their lives in Monday’s inferno. “177 bodies of the victims have been delivered to their heirs after identification process,” they added.
They informed further that 82 bodies – 72 man and 10 women – could not be identified and samples had been collected for their DNA test.
Officials said 93 bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital, 84 to civil hospital and 71 to Jinnah hospital; while 82 unidentifiable bodies were moved to the Edhi morgue.
