Electricity wires are lying naked in certain markets situated in Sector G-7 but Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) is negligent about the issue.
These uncovered wires could easily cause loss of lives and the danger was multiplied by the rains because the electric current emitted from these wires moved with a greater intensity in wet conditions.
The Traders Welfare Association President Malik Aurangzeb Awan has said that an application in this regard was submitted with the IESCO officials about six months ago. He added that a month after the submission of the application, IESCO workers visited the site, examined it and went away. But, the wires had not been covered so far, he said.
Awan also demanded of the Federal Minister for Water and Power Ahmed Mukhtar to take immediate measures in this regard to solve the problem.
Meanwhile, IESCO Chief Executive had assured the residents of the area that work to mend the naked cables would start within three to four days time.
Traders warned to besiege the IESCO Head Office, if the work on the naked wires did not commence within three days.
