Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo said on Friday that draining out of the remaining rain water in low-lying areas had been intensified by raising the number of pumping machines up to 70 and hoped that the task would be completed within 24 hours.
On his surprise visits to different parts of the urban talukas to monitor the work in progress, he directed the WASA Hyderabad to identify and prepare a complete list of such drainage troubling pockets in all three urban talukas with their recommendations for permanent solution of the problems.
During the visits, he also interacted with residents of the area to get first hand information and suggestions from them.
Talking to the people, the commissioner said that it was for the first time in the history of Hyderabad that the rain water was being cleared from the urban areas within few hours.
Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Shahnawaz Babar, Additional Commissioner Hyderabad Lal Dino Mangi and other officers from WASA also accompanied the commissioner.
