After the inferno in the factories in Karachi and Lahore, the City District Government Rawalpindi has issued 500 notices to around 150 industrial units operating without adequate fire safety measures in the garrison city.
It should be mentioned that there are over 150 factories in Rawalpindi which included six textile mills, 30 flour mills and over 70 pharmaceutical companies.
Sources said that notices had been served to the industrial units; however no concrete action was taken in this regard by the authorities concerned.
In order to limit the loss of property and human life in the incidents of fire outbreak, the Rawalpindi district government ensured that fire safety measures would be installed at all the industrial units, which ranged from steel mills, flour mills, food processing units, building material industries, pharmaceutical companies, hardware and electric appliances manufacturing industries and large-sized warehouses.
