Moderate earthquake jolts upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

An earthquake of moderate intensity jolted upper parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on late Wednesday night, but no causalities or property loss was reported. According to the geological wing of Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), a tremor of 5.5 magnitude on Richter scale was felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Swat, Malakand, Dir, North Punjab and other northern parts of Pakistan. People rushed out of their homes in panic, but no causality, injury or property loss was reported due to the earthquake. According to PMD the epicenter of the quake was near the Afghan-Tajik border.
