PML-N President Nawaz Sharif on Thursday termed the fire incidents that occurred in Karachi and Lahore as ‘big tragedies’ saying that laws are present in the country but they are not being implemented to stop such incidents.
Talking to media after visiting the burnt factory located on Band Road in Lahore, the PML-N president said that he will visit Karachi tomorrow to condole with the people of Karachi.
He said that society has gone corrupt due to which laws are not being implemented. He said government institutions are also running on the lines and dictatorship has role in deteriorated situation in Pakistan.
Nawaz Sharif said laws are there but these are not being implemented. He said there is need for a change that could motivate the people to work with determination and responsibility.
Nawaz said that if factory owners are responsible for the tragic incident then government officials were also equally responsible.
The PML-N President the trend of setting up industries in the residential areas in Lahore is not the product of the past few years but it is going on for the last 40 to 50 years. He said the government institutions job was to prevent this trend and made it clear that the responsible officers in Punjab government would be made answerable for this negligence.
He however said that due to unemployment and price hike, people were setting up factories at small places and no doubt they provide jobs to the people. However he stressed that proper security measures were also necessary.
He refused to give a direct answer to property tycoon’s offer to provide relief to the fire affectees but said that the philanthropists must come forward for the assistance of the affectees.
