Involvement of students makes the events competitive

The second phase of the Punjab Youth Festival 2012, which is the Union Council level, is gaining pace with the involvement of students of elementary schools, individuals and families in general events while sporting activities at the second level are being held actively indoors while the outdoor games and matches are being held in areas having dry outfield.
In the nine towns of Lahore, Nashtar, Shalimar, Ravi and Gulberg Towns were the most active in different events of the UC level.
At Ravi Town, Rana Iqbal, MPA was the chief guest and witnessed the events at the Iqbal Park Sports Complex.
In Nishtar Town, union council 134’s Mohammed Bakhtawar and Mohammed Imran won the Badminton doubles match beating Abdul Qadir and Ijaz Ahmed 20-15. In Union council’s 76, Umer Shah Rukh, Kaleem Ahmed were the winners in doubles 20-15. In the Tug of War, block 1’s Mohammd Asif, Mohammad Najam, Mohammad Asif Javed, Mohammad Saleem Bhatti and Adnan Vicky beat block 5 team 2-0.
In Shalimar Town, Arm Wrestling competitions were held in which union council 18, block A’s Shakeel beat Tahir Hameed 2-0, Tahir Hameed swayed Kashif 2-0 and in the final competitions, Shakeel beat Kashif 2-0.
In the football match, union council 18’s block 5 defeated block A 6-2. In the Tug of War, union council 18’s block 1 beat block 3 , 2-0. In cricket tapeball match, union council 18’s block 6 beat block 3 by 1 wicket. In Badminton, union council 18’s block 5 Irfan Qasim defeated Mohammad Hafiz Asim 2-0. In the Athletics 100 metre race, union council 18’s Ramzan Khalid achieved first position, Usman Anwar was declared second while Shahid Anjum attained third position. In Billiard, union council 18’s Mansoor defeated Mohammad Sami 2-0, Mansoor outplayed Wajid 2-0.
In Aziz Bhatti Town, Cricket tapeball matches were held in which Chan XI beat Ramzan XI by 24 runs. In the Tug of War, union council 55’s Rizwan XI beat Dryport XI. In Arm Wrestling, Ijaz, Umer and Suhail were the winners. In Badminton tournaments, union council 55’s Mohammad Awais beat Ahsan 3-0.
In Iqbal Town, union council’s 112 Syed Khawar beat Sajjad 2-0, Mustafa Hussain defeated Syed Imran 2-0 whereas Rana Ahsan beat Rahat Shabir 2-1. In Billiard, union council 112’s Faheem beat Abbas while in Arm Wrestling Sajjad, Shakeel , Tahir, Mustafa and Junaid were the winners.
From among the other parts of the province, Gujranwala’s 6842 youngsters from 122 Union Councils got involved to the maximum in arm wrestling, badminton, billiard, weightlifting, bodybuilding, tug of war and volleyball. On the other hand they also took full part in naat khani and qirat. In Gujranwala Sadar alone 1532 took part in 4 events from 39 UCs.
Around 1400 from 40 UCs took part in different events in Gujrat and more than 800 of 42 union councils got involved in 13 events in Hafizabad.
