Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is probing the fire incidents in Karachi and Lahore on same day to find out any link with terrorism in the two incidents which claimed more than 200 precious lives besides leaving scores others injured.
He stated this while talking to media persons outside the Parliament House here on Wednesday.
Rehman Malik said that involvement of terrorism in the two incidents could not be overlooked.
Responding to a question regarding missing persons, he said that 109 complaints in this connection were sent to UN and the commission visited Pakistan on invitation of the Foreign Office.
He said that UN commission has not arrived for investigation but just to get information in this regard. “We would inform the commission about missing persons, some of which were earning livelihood in foreign countries.”
Malik said that during his upcoming visit, he would raise the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqi on priority basis.
He said that New Delhi would be consulted if the Pakistani Hindu devotees staying in India didn’t return in stipulated time.
The interior minister commenting over the Dr Shakeel Afridi interview with Fox News said that the published interview seems to be fake as the accused was in jail and how could foreign media approach him while being in prison.
