The death toll in suicide car bombing in Parachinar has soared to 16 as two persons succumbed to their injuries while being airlifted to Peshawar late on Monday night. Tribal sources informed that more than 50 injured were under treatment at various hospitals. Around 13 people are at Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital, while the rest of the injured are at the Agency Headquarter Hospital. Doctors say the condition of several seriously injured was still in danger. According to tribesmen in Parachinar, the killed persons have been laid to rest in various villages of Kurram Agency.
The funeral of the killed persons was mainly attended by Shia tribesmen from all over the area. Mourning the tragic death of 16 people, there was a complete shutter down strike in Parachinar city and its suburbs. All the bazaars and shopping centers remained close, while traffic on various roads was almost none. A heretofore unknown militant group “Ghazi” claimed the responsibility for Monday’s attack on Shia Turi tribesmen. In a telephone call, a man claiming to be a member of the Ghazi group affiliated with the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack.
