Ajmal sets record of most wickets in T20

Saaed Ajmal became the highest wicket-taker in Twenty-20 cricket by dismissing Geroge Bailey in the third and final Twenty-20 match against Australia at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday night (September 10). It was his 59th wicket in 42 T20 international matches.
The off spinner had equalled the record of highest wickets with Shahid Afridi in the second T20 match of the series, 41st match of his carrer .Shahid Afridi claimed the same number of wickets in 50 matches.
Umar Gul sent Shahid Afridi on the third spot by taking two wickets for 30 runs in this match. The fast bowler from Peshawar now has 59 wickets at 16.69 in 43 Twenty-20 international matches.
The 94-run victory was the second-biggest victory margin for Australia in Twenty-20 internationals after their 95-run win over South Africa at Brisbane on January 9, 2006. It was, however, the largest margin of defeat for Pakistan.
Pakistan recorded their lowest ever total in Twenty-20 cricket by making just 74 in 19.1 overs. Their previous lowest was 89 in 18.4 overs against England at Cardiff on September 7,2010. It was only the second time that Pakistan have had a completed innings of 10 dismissals with none of the batsmen reaching 20. The last time was against England at Cardiff on September 7, 2010.
The 111-run opening stand between David Warner and Shane Watson was the highest for Australia. It was also the second century stand between the two batsmen after their 104-run stand against India in the Twenty-20 World Cup at Bridgetown on May 7,2010.
Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden also added 104 runs for the first wicket against Bangladesh at Cape Town on September 16,2007.
The number of sixes hit in Australia’s innings (12) was joint-fourth on the list of most sixes hit in a single innings by Australia. The highest is 16 against India at Bridgetown on May 7,2010.
Brad Hogg’s economy rate (2.75) was the lowest for an Australian bowler in a completed four-over spell in a Twenty-20 international cricket.
David Warner received his fourth man of the match award in 36 Twenty-20 matches. It was his maiden such award in eight Twenty-20 matches against Pakistan.
Saaed Ajmal got his maiden man of the series award in Twenty-20 international cricket.
