No external pressure accepted on NWA operation: COAS

President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and both of them deliberated over a set of issues including professional matters of army, national security situation, imposition of ban on Haqqani network by US, situation arising out of recent flash floods and other matters.
Sources told ONLINE that the President and COAS agreed that no external pressure would be accepted regarding North Waziristan operation and they said that Pakistan herself would decide whether to start operation or not.
Further informing about the meeting, the sources said that both leaders discussed in detailed the aftermath of declaring Haqqani network a terrorist organization by the US while they also reviewed the agenda of Pakistan upon the upcoming visits of the high ups US in Pakistan.
During the meeting President Zardari maintained that Pakistan has given great sacrifices in the ongoing war against terrorism, therefore by keeping in view the sacrifices of the Pakistani nation, the international community should appreciate the role of Pakistan.
The President while talking about the NWA operation he said that both the military and government would collectively decide the operation. The government’s top most priority is the defence and security of the country.
Both the leaders reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue operation in the country, which was caused due to heavy rains in the country.
Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani assured the President of his full support in case of any emergency in the country due to recent floods.
