Aseefa urges legilsators to make anti-polio program successful

Ambassador, Polio Eradication Programme in Pakistan, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari urged MPAs, MNAs and Senators of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to ensure participation in the national programme for eradication of polio.
The Federal Government has launched a three-day anti-polio campaign in the country from today. The commencement of the campaign in rain hit areas has been postponed. Presiding over a meeting of PPP Women MPAs from Sindh, at Bilawal House, Aseefa said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership wants to immunize every child under the age of five against polio. “Every child is important to us” she asserted.
Thirteen women MP’s of Sindh Assembly including Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Provincial Minister Begum Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, Humera Alvani and Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Syeda Shehla Raza attended the meeting. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) and PM’s Focal Person on Polio Begum Shehnaz Wazir Ali and National Coordinator on Polio Dr Altaf Bosan also attended the meeting.
Shahnaz Wazir Ali and Dr Altaf Bosan responding to reporters after the meeting said that Aseefa has urged all party parliamentarians at Provincial and Federal level to regularly visit their constituencies and mobilize the people to get their children vaccinated against polio menace. The MP’s have been told to inform their constituents regarding the polio campaigns schedule.
