The Workers Welfare Funds (WWF) has provided around Rs. 1055 million as grant to ensure relief to the workers and their families during the last one year. The WWF which finances different projects for the welfare of workers had accommodated around 11,673 cases of death grant, marriage grant and post secondary scholarships. According to the WWF, Rs. 637 million were disbursed against 9138 marriage grant cases during the period, while Rs. 341 million were disbursed against 1079 cases of death grant and Rs. 77 million against 1456 cases of post secondary scholarships. Marriage grant was provided at the rate of Rs. 70,000 per daughter per workers and death grant at the rate of Rs. 500,000. The WWF officials said that after the passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment, the Planning Commissioninitiated a policy dialogue with the provincial governments with regard to developing a series of social protection policies. The Planning Commission would coordinate with all four provinces to develop a consensus on a framework for social protection, institutional arrangements, coverage of policy, compliance monitoring arrangements and legal and regulatory arrangements.
