WHEN SPORTS & DENGUE COMBINE IT BECOMES A CONCERT?

A Dengue walk themed a “healthy society” organized by the Sports Board Punjab witnessed a record participation of 50,000 citizens.
The walk was led by Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and Director General Sports Board and Youth Affairs Usman Anwar. Secretary Sports Haroon Ahmed Khan was also among the participants and led the ladies walk.
Despite rain around 30,000 male and 20,000 females took part in the walk holding banners for awareness for the eradication of dengue. The walk started from Liberty Chowk and concluded at Main Market. People hailing from various segments of the society, students of schools, colleges, doctors and nurses took part in the walk. Barbed wires were installed to separate male and female walkers. Rescue teams, civil defense authorities and police were put on alert to ensure safety of the participants.
The participants were entertained by clowns, musicians and an air show in which model aircrafts displayed various acrobatic skills. The model aeroplanes and helicopters took flight from Main Boulevard Gulberg and circulated above Liberty Chowk..
Rana Mashhood, who is also the chief organizer of the Punjab Youth Festival, said that “it was the mission of the Punjab government and the CM to ensure a clean and healthy environment”.
