On a call by the Pakistan Transport Welfare Association, transporters through out Rawalpindi district will go on an indefinite wheel-jam strike from today (Monday) against unprecedented increase in POL prices and heavy fines by the police on traffic rules violations. The president of the association Raja Ghulam Abbas and General Secretary Babu Rashid Nawaz said if their demands were not accepted, they would go on a hunger strike and besiege the Aiwan-e-Sadr. They said they had repeatedly requested Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to play his role in stopping the authorities from increasing POL and CNG tariffs but the bureaucracy had been creating hurdles. The next step they said would be a call for shutter down strike in Rawalpindi.
