At least ten people were killed and more than 40 wounded in a powerful bomb blast in Parachinar, main town and capital of Kurram Agency, semi-ruled northwestern tribal area borders Afghanistan.
According to local political agents, the blast occurred at Sadar Bazar, main market of whole region, when an explosive laden vehicle ripped through Kashmir Chowk in busy hours Monday afternoon.
The blast was so powerful that it destroyed several shops and building located nearby the site, officials said adding that main power transmission line, left the whole area without electricity.
Political agent confirmed 10 deaths while 40 wounded were shifted to Agency Headquarter Hospital where condition of several injured reported critical which feared increase in death toll.
The area has been witnessed sectarian violence but Monday blast was worst incident after a long time in Parachinar city.
Meanwhile President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf have condemned the loss of innocent lives in the blast and said that we would not be deterred in our fight against terrorism by such incidents.
