UN and Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi said Monday during a visit to Cairo that he faces a “very difficult mission” in conflict-stricken Syria, as he prepared to visit Damascus.
“I realise it’s a very difficult mission, but I think it is not my right to refuse to give whatever assistance I can to the Syrian people,” Brahimi told reporters after talks with Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi.
“I will go to Damascus in a few days and I will meet officials and civil society members in the capital and outside,” Brahimi said.

  1. Brahimi don't give up -that is what your mission is.With Iran by your side when the going gets tough, the tough get going-without fear or favour go and stop these rebels who are fighting the legitimate government of Syria

  2. I have the greatest respect for Mr. Brahimi but why is that the UN or the Western countries always bring in the people from the past to negotiate? Earlier it was Mr. Kofi Anan. What success did he have at the UN.? It is another case of west buying time for the Syrian Govt .to go to pieces. The solution to Syria,s problem lies within itself. No outside country should interfere.
